On the achievable rates of multiple antenna broadcast channels with feedback-link capacity constraint

چکیده
In this paper, we study a MIMO fading broadcast channel where each receiver has perfect channel state information while the channel state information at the transmitter is acquired by explicit channel feedback from each receiver through capacity-constrained feedback links. Two feedback schemes are considered, i.e., the analog and digital feedback. We analyze the achievable ergodic rates of zero-forcing dirty-paper coding (ZF-DPC), which is a nonlinear precoding scheme inherently superior to linear ZF beamforming. Closed-form lower and upper bounds on the achievable ergodic rates of ZF-DPC with Gaussian inputs and uniform power allocation are derived. Based on the closed-form rate bounds, sufficient and necessary conditions on the feedback channels to ensure nonzero and full downlink multiplexing gain are obtained. Specifically, for analog feedback in both AWGN and Rayleigh fading feedback channels, it is sufficient and necessary to scale the average feedback link SNR linearly with the downlink SNR in order to achieve the full multiplexing gain. While for the random vector quantization-based digital feedback with angle distortion measure in an error-free feedback link, it is sufficient and necessary to scale the number of feedback bits B per user as B = (M − 1)log2 P N0 where M is the number of transmit antennas and P N0 is the average downlink SNR.

Multi - User Communication Systems : Capacity , Duality , and Cooperation
In this thesis we investigate the capacity of multi-user wireless communication channels. We first establish a duality relationship between the Gaussian broadcast and multiple-access channels. This relationship allows us to characterize the capacity region of the Gaussian broadcast channel in terms of the dual Gaussian multiple-access channel, and vice versa. This relationship holds for constan...
متن کاملMulti-user Aware Limited Feedback for MIMO Systems
Consider a wireless communication system where the base station has multiple antennas and users have a single antenna. For both the multiple access and broadcast channels, the sum capacity scales at best linearly with the number of antennas at the base station and double logarithmically with the number of users as the user pool grows asymptotically. Achieving this optimal capacity scaling poten...
متن کاملSecrecy Capacity Region of a Multi-Antenna Gaussian Broadcast Channel with Confidential Messages
In wireless data networks, communication is particularly susceptible to eavesdropping due to its broadcast nature. Security and privacy systems have become critical for wireless providers and enterprise networks. This paper considers the problem of secret communication over the Gaussian broadcast channel, where a multi-antenna transmitter sends independent confidential messages to two users wit...
متن کاملCapacity limits of MIMO channels
We provide an overview of the extensive recent results on the Shannon capacity of single-user and multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels. Although enormous capacity gains have been predicted for such channels, these predictions are based on somewhat unrealistic assumptions about the underlying time-varying channel model and how well it can be tracked at the receiver, as well a...
متن کاملCommunication over MIMO Multi-User Systems: Signalling and Fairness
Employment of the multiple-antenna transmitters/receivers in communication systems is known as a promising solution to provide high-data-rate wireless links. In the multiuser environments, the problems of signaling and fairness for multi-antenna systems have emerged as challenging problems. This dissertation deals with these problems in several multi-antenna multi-user scenarios. In part one, a...
